This mornings meeting we had 17 members gather to talk about downtown. We welcomed Danielle from Laughing Dog Kitchen as our newest member. After today's meeting I met with Robin Henderson, the new Manette Business Association president and the MBA joined today. We also talked about the new member decals, shown at the right, available to businesses in good stand that can display them. Also, that with the increase of membership fees - renewing members will pay $69 as long as they pay before the current membership expires. We are hoping that this will reduce the burden on the volunteers who would have to collect. We announce that Katie Albright from the Bremerton Symphony has agreed to step into the Secretary role being vacated by Harold Hartley at Navy Federal. We thank Harold for his time serving on the board. We are still actively seeking a new Treasurer.
Next Saturday the 20th we will need to take down the holiday lights in downtown. Carlos Jara of Toro Lounge will head that up. If you can help it would be appreciated - even if its just those by your business. Speaking of holiday lights, we are looking into having lights up on light poles and even over Pacific Avenue for 2016 WinterFest. We also hope to expand it over several days.
St Patrick's Day parade (3/19/2016) planning is coming together. Gina Schultz mentioned that because it is the 25th parade they are hoping to have more entries, participants, spectators and families come out for a fun morning. They hope to hide "gold coins" along the route for the kids to collect. Later that day will be the St Paddy's Crawl. Similar to the Santa Crawl but with the addition of the new barcade - Another Castle.
Jerry McDonald updated the group on the need for sponsors for Rock the Dock this summer to increase draw with bigger bands and have more marketing. Jerry also invited everyone to tomorrow's Roger Brooks seminar at SEEfilm at 11:30 - this week is The Rules of Business and Community Signage.
Also, this month is GreenDrinks at Olympic College on Thursday at 5 - details on our website and facebook. We hope that this can help serve as a DBA member mixer. Everyone attending our Holiday Gathering enjoyed the chance to get to know one another better.
we hope to start the Main Street Association process and plan our annual Spring Clean Up Day. Frank Portello invited DBA members to participate in a Military Couples event presented by Stars & Stripes magazine on 3/19/2016 - particpation is free if an activity is offered. Maybe a couple of businesses could do adult coloring! Contact Frank or myself for more information.
